COPPER ANTI-SEIZE PROTECTION FOR DEMANDING WORKSHOP APPLICATIONS

Separating lubrication for heat-exposed metal assemblies

MANNOL Copper Spray (9880 / 9887) is a copper-containing aerosol lubricant for metal and alloy contact surfaces subjected to heat, moisture, demanding loads and aggressive environments. Its copper particles coat the treated area, creating a lubricating and separating layer that helps limit metal-to-metal sticking and facilitates disassembly after extended operation.

The manufacturer emphasizes strong adhesion to treated surfaces, including resistance to being thrown off rapidly rotating parts, together with protection against corrosion and unwanted bonding at metal interfaces. The formulation resists hot water and salt water, while its separating action helps protect contact surfaces from seizing, heat-related sticking and carbon deposits. In suitable applications, it can also reduce creaking, noise and vibration.

For automotive service departments, fleet maintenance and industrial workshops, Copper Spray is useful for protecting compatible threaded connections and thermally stressed assemblies. It is a lubricating/separating product, not a brake or parts-cleaning solvent; use it only at contact points where the equipment manufacturer's servicing instructions permit a copper-based lubricant.

SUITABLE APPLICATIONS

  • Exhaust systems: High-temperature threaded connections and metal joints where separating lubrication helps limit sticking and supports future disassembly.
  • Bolts, screws and threaded fasteners: Compatible metal-to-metal connections exposed to corrosion, moisture, vibration or prolonged service.
  • Disc and drum brake servicing: Manufacturer-approved non-friction hardware and contact points where copper-based lubricant is appropriate to help address creaking or sticking.
  • Hubs, spark-plug threads and screw mechanisms: Specified metal contact points, movable screw pairs and other compatible connections requiring corrosion protection or anti-seize action.
  • Driveline and shaft assemblies: Appropriate propeller-shaft joints and related metal interfaces where the service instructions call for separating lubrication.
  • Industrial high-temperature equipment: Selected connections on heat exchangers, boilers, turbines and other thermally loaded machinery where copper lubricant is specified.

Automotive, fleet, workshop and industrial uses are subject to the equipment manufacturer's material, location and service requirements.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Follow the manufacturer-described application sequence and the relevant vehicle or equipment maintenance instructions:

  1. Clean the contact surfaces. Remove rust, carbon deposits, oxides, scale and other contamination thoroughly; clean down to bare metal if required.
  2. Degrease. Prepare the intended metal contact area before application.
  3. Shake the can vigorously. Disperse the copper-containing lubricant before spraying.
  4. Apply the required amount. Spray only the specified contact surfaces and use the quantity directed by the equipment maintenance manual.
  5. Clean the spray head and nozzle. Clear the spray head after use; stop using the can once it expels only propellant gas.

IMPORTANT APPLICATION & COMPATIBILITY NOTE

For brake systems, apply only to appropriate non-friction contact points and service hardware approved by the vehicle manufacturer. Do not apply to brake-pad friction material or disc/drum braking surfaces. Follow equipment-specific instructions for material compatibility and fastener installation, particularly on torque-sensitive threads such as spark plugs. Do not spray onto hot surfaces or near ignition sources; follow the aerosol label and applicable safety information.

COMMON PRODUCT QUESTIONS

What is the difference between MANNOL Copper Spray 9880 and 9887?

They are two manufacturer formats of the same MANNOL Copper Spray product: MN9880 is the 500 ml aerosol, and MN9887 is the 250 ml aerosol. Distribution IDC can discuss Canadian wholesale sourcing for either size.

Is Copper Spray a parts cleaner or an anti-seize lubricant?

MANNOL Copper Spray is a copper-based separating lubricant, not a cleaning solvent. Applied to suitable prepared metal surfaces, it helps reduce sticking and corrosion and makes threaded joints easier to disassemble during later maintenance.

Can MANNOL Copper Spray be used during brake repairs?

MANNOL lists disc and drum brake service among its example applications. Apply only to suitable non-friction contact points and hardware permitted by the vehicle manufacturer; never contaminate brake pads or disc/drum friction surfaces.

Is Copper Spray suitable for exhaust fasteners and high-temperature connections?

Yes. MANNOL specifically lists exhaust connections and thermally stressed equipment among its uses. Its copper-containing separating layer helps limit unwanted bonding and seizing on compatible metal joints exposed to heat.

How does Copper Spray protect metal surfaces in wet or corrosive conditions?

The manufacturer describes strong adhesion, protection against corrosion and resistance to hot and salt water. Clean and degrease the relevant surfaces before application. MANNOL lists a manufacturer shelf life of five years.
